God vs Jesus

This is a little conversation I heard at one of my tables. I couldn't help but smile.

5 year old #1: (randomly out of the blue) God had parents.

5 year old #2: No he didn't.

5 year old #3: Yes he did. He had a mommy and a daddy.

5 year old #2: I have a Bible.

5 year old #3: I have three.

5 year old #2. I have a Bible with sparkles.

5 year old #3: Yeah, huh, God's mom was Mary and his daddy was Joseph.

5 year old #2: Oh yeah!

5 year old #4: (muttering under his breath) Ugh, you guys are talking about Jesus not God.

5 year old #1: Mrs. Debook, when's snack?

Big vs Tall

5 year old: "Teacher. You sure are big."

Mrs. D: (smiling sweetly) "Oh you mean, I am really tall, like a tall tree."

5 year old: "No, I mean big. Like you weigh 200 pounds, teacher."

Mrs. D: (forcefully smiling) "Please go away and do something else."

The Redwoods

For some people, Spring Break means: Mexico. To some it means: Caribbean Cruise. And to others it means: Mr. Fancy Pants place. To Jill and Jake it means: camp in your car and look at tall trees while attempting not to freeze. Oh, and to all you non teacher/student folks, it means: work as usual. Mwahhhh.

While we may have very much enjoyed bathing in the sun for our Spring Break, we did have a great time exploring the Redwoods and making our car our temporary home.

J and J happy in the car. This was not taken on the night we had chili for dinner. No one was smiling that night.

We went on a lot of great hikes. One of our favorite hikes led us to a private beach. Unfortunately, we had to cross a "very narrow and treacherous" walkway. Here is Jake 27 minutes before he made the crossing.
Another hike took us through a canyon that involved crossing over water multiple times.

If you've read our blog for awhile, you might remember that a few summers back Jill fell flat on her face while crossing a stream. She has since been terrified of any amount of water that she must cross. Instead of taking it slow, she decided to leap ever so ungracefully from log to rock and ended up with very wet shoes, but no fat lip.

We had beautiful camping spots every night. Although we about pooed our pants when we had to pay $35 a night to sleep in our car.

Hats were a necessity not only because it was chilly at night, but also because we didn't shower the entire time we were gone. Delightful, we know.

We saw quite a lot of this.

It was amazing. To see more pictures of this type, you can go to Jake's facebook page.

We knew it was time to head home when we discovered a slug on the bottom of our wine bottle.
