It's a good thing they're this cute.

They might be rowdy, demanding, and poop all the live long day, but dang they sure are cute!

Return of the Shoe pictures

We of course are measuring our little lady against her dad's monstrous size 15 shoe. She is growing and growing and growing...

A wee two days old. Oh the days where all I did was sleep and sleep.
A mighty one week old. Now I've added eating and pooping into what I do best.
All of a sudden I am a month old and people are talking about how chunky I am. Sure is rough eating all the time. I like to keep mom on her toes and get up every two and half hours at night.
And now I'm two months old. I'm eleven pounds and twenty three inches (54th% and 74th%). I've decided that sleeping all day is nonsense and like to have my opinion heard loud and clear. I am delightfully cute and love to smile (have to balance out all of my screaming). I've decided to be nice to my mama and am currently sleeping in nice long stretches at night.

Baby Comparison

Evie at 7 weeks with hair!

Henry at 8 weeks bald as can be.

Of course he is not wearing a helmet.

Henry is really into riding his bike. Now on a normal day when he is on nice flat ground, he wears proper brain protecting equipment. On a day when he is cruising down hills? Well, no not so much.

We're not quite sure what he says when he initially ends up in the bushes, but after he says, "I don't want to go fasser and fasser."

Now the real question is: Did he lose control and end up in the bushes, or was he smart enough to use the bushes to bail out on his wild ride?

Awkward Family Photos

Our Evie girl turned one month on Sunday. Since Jake's family was still here we decided to have a mini birthday party for her and get our first picture as a family of four.

Here's our best effort at capturing our family.

Okay, everyone look at the camera and smile. Or maybe just look really unprepared.

Jake, the baby's head is all slumped down. Can you hold her differently?

Like, put your hand on her chin like when you burp her?

Um, yes, just like that. It doesn't look like you are choking* her at all.

Wait, is our other child going for the cake?  Oh well, keep on smiling.
And that's as good as it gets.

Maybe we will have better luck at month two. And don't you love the stickers on Henry's face?

*I'm pretty sure this goes without saying, but since this is the internet and all...Jake is not actually choking Evelyn, just supporting her head. I assure you she was breathing the entire time.

A second round of reinforcements.

I had to last a whole twenty four hours before my second round of help arrived. That's not actually true. I think I was home about twenty minutes after returning from Salt Lake City to drop Mimi off before a neighborhood girl  (love her!) saved me from myself and came and got Henry for ice cream. Apparently the screaming newborn and the toddler wandering outside alone tipped her off that maybe I didn't have it all together. Our last visitors just left this morning and Jake is home again so life might return to normal for a few days.

We loved having Omi, Opa, Auntie Erika and cousin Koen stay with us. We were spoiled with delicious food and lots of help and fun.

These two boys are exactly six months apart and have completely different personalities but are becoming best buds (most of the time)!
I have an idea. Let's put these balls in our mouths and then spit them out at each other! Good idea, Ko!
90% of all waking hours must be spent jumping off anything we can find.
My name is Evelyn and I like to eat.
Opa trying to keep up with the boys.
Admiring their fist granddaughter.
My name is Evelyn and I steal hearts.

We miss you all already!

Super Mimi!

Our Mimi came this past week to rescue me from being a single parent and to love on the grand babies. So what did our grand and wonderful Mimi do while she was here?
She supervised bath time while loving on this doll.
She read Thomas stories with much more excitement than Mom and Dad.
She played and played and played.
She made cookies with this turkey.
She gave mama lots of breaks.
She almost peed her pants when she rounded the corner and came face to face with this little guy.
She played some more.
She introduced E to the bottle.

And then of course there was the deep cleaning, the cooking, the dishwashing, the laundry folding, the newborn poop stain removing, and the the cranky baby burping.

Needless to say everyone was a little sad when we took "Mimi to the airport to go back to Papa's house."

Thanks so much for coming, Mom. See you in two more weeks. Evie will probably be 12 pounds by then!
